Wonders of Pinks and Purples

It took me a while to fall in love with the Wonder Woman palette by MAC. Of course, I purchased it right away in way back when in 2011 but it isn’t a palette I usually grab for. Today I did. =]

September Birchbox

I have been receiving my Birchboxes later and later every month it seems. This month I received my shipment email on the 10th. The tracking information wasn’t updated until the 15th. I sent them an email inquiring why I hadn’t received mine yet on the 17th and I finally received it on 22nd. So with all of that being stated, I cancelled by subscription.

Here is what I received…

21 drops – Focus Aromatherapy Blend. – I love the rosemary and peppermint oil. I applied to my temples as suggested and just breathed deeply. Works wonders. Also it is 100% natural.

Color Club Nail Polish – Haven’t tried yet.

Nexxus – Split End Treatment System – No need for.

twistband – Lace Hair Tie – No need for.

Vasanti – Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – I’m rather cautious when trying new face product so I just applied a small amount on my cheek. Worked it in a circular motion as directed and washed it off. Left my skin feeling smooth, and not dried out. Next time I’ll do my whole face.

Mighty Leaf Tea Company – Green Tea Tropical,  Chamomile Citrus, and Vanilla Bean black tea. – I opened the green tea pouch as was greeted with wonderful amazing flavor. I added just a little sugar and boom! Amazing tea in my belly! Definitely will be buying from them!

& a $25 Madewell giftcard towards a purchase of $75 or more which expires at the end of the month.

DIY: Photo Coasters

So my best friend is moving into an apartment with her boyfriend and I wanted to give her a personalized gift. Something that they both can enjoy and that is useful. Being that Pinterest is an obsession of mine, I came across a DIY photo coaster project. This is definitely a weekend project, as you need time for everything to dry.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Plain ceramic tiles (Home Depot .13¢)
  • Felt (Michael’s)
  • Mod Podge (Michael’s)
  • Sponge applicator (Michael’s)
  • Hot glue gun
  • Photos printed from a local drugstore kiosk.
  • Clear acrylic gloss coating spray

Let’s get started!

Measured and cut the felt into squares.

Apply the felt with a hot glue gun to the bottom of the tile, and allow to dry. I found that applying the hot glue onto the felt then pressing onto the coaster worked best.

Once I cut my selected photos down to fit the size of the tile, I applied a layer of Mod Podge to the back and positioned the photo on the tile. This is the part where you walk away. Watch a show, eat dinner, go shopping, basically do something that will keep you occupied for a couple of hours.

Apply a layer of Mod Podge onto the photo. Allow to dry for some hours. Apply another coat, and allow to dry. And one last coat. That’s three coats all together. Photo should be nice and sealed onto the tile once completed.

I waited a couple days before going crazy with the acrylic spray. I placed the tiles on a trash bag and went to coating them. I sprayed about 5 layers waiting 20 mins in between each layer.

Once completely dry, I made sure photos were secure and that the felt was completely attached before gifting to my friend and her boyfriend as a house warming gift. As you can see the acrylic spray gives the tiles a great glossy finish. I’m curious to see how long the finish lasts.
